Electrostatic effects and topological superconductivity in semiconductor–superconductor–magnetic-insulator hybrid wires

We investigate the impact of electrostatics on proximity effect between a magnetic insulator and semiconductor wire in semiconductor-superconductor-magnetic hybrid structures. By performing self-consistent Schr$\ddot{\rm o}$dinger-Poisson calculations using an effective model system, we find that large Zeeman fields consistent with emergence topological superconductivity emerge within parameter window wires overlapping layers superconductor, but not non-overlapping show this behavior is essentially result electrostatic effects determining amplitude low-energy wave functions near semiconductor-magnetic interface.
